Prisca

April 2017 update:

When we started our reunification initiative, we immediately turned to Prisca's uncle, Titoutou to see if, with support, his family would be able to foster Prisca (and her biological sister, Wildarne).  The main challenge we were up against was that his home was very small and they just did not have the space to house Prisca and Wildarne.  However, thanks to some generous donors, we were able to help the girls' uncle build an addition on to his home specifically for the girls.

Prisca's transition to her uncle's home was a little rocky at first--Prisca even admitted she made a little trouble.  But everyone has adapted and Prisca is very happy in the home of her uncle and aunt.  She loves helping care for her cousins, who are all younger than her, and she is active in a Baptist church, where she volunteers, helping with the cleaning.  Her aunt says that she always has a joyful attitude and is constantly singing a song-- even when doing the dishes!

Older updates on Prisca:

Prisca, age 13, birthday June 6

You can't spend much time around the foster home without running into Prisca. While many of the kids tend to disappear when new people are around, Prisca prefers to be in the center of things. She is a joy to be around, rarely getting upset and rarely causing problems. She likes to serve. She does so with joy. Her beautiful singing voice can often be heard as she washed clothes or washes dishes.  She likes to cook and bake.

Prisca is a confident girl. People flock to her, and a lot of people in the community refer to her as "the pretty one." And while she is a pretty girl, we believe the most beautiful thing about her is her faithfulness.  It is evident in the way she loves her family. She cares for and protects her biological sister, Wildarne (also in the home). She keeps in contact with her aunts and uncles, and we try to promote those familial connections any time we can. She is also fiercely loyal to her foster family.

She desires to work in the service industry when she's older. Maybe as a hostess or waitress. And it fits. Our life is better when she's in it.

Prisca loves getting mail. These were some stickers and a note sent from one of her sponsors a few years ago.
Prisca, second from left, made the decision to be baptized in 2014. In Haitian culture, you wear a white dress when you get baptized.
